Lenovo announces revamped ThinkPad Edge notebooks
Lenovo’s decided to give the classic ThinkPad design a fresh re-make with today’s announcement of the new ThinkPad Edge series. Available in three display sizes (13, 14, and 15 inch models), the new models are “designed with style and affordability in mind for today’s budget-conscious customers.” (a.k.a – they’re cheaper than ever before).
Features you’ll find on the new ThinkPad Edge models include:
- Updated clean design that removes unnecessary keys and simplifies the design
- New island-styled keyboard with uniform black keys.
- Select 14 and 15 inch models will feature illuminated keyboards
- Large multi-touch enabled touchpad
- Available in Midnight Black in either gloss or soft finish or Heatwave Red.
- Choice of AMD Turion, AMD Neo, or Intel Core 2 Duo processors
- Windows 7
- 8+ hour battery life
- Wi-Fi
- Optional Bluetooth, 3G, and WiMAX
The new ThinkPad Edge 13 inch model will be available starting tomorrow (Jan 5th) with models starting at around $549. The 14 and 15 inch models will be available in the second quarter. Best Buy will offer the 14 inch model in the U.S.
Oh and don’t worry – the classic ThinkPad designs will still be available in case you hate the Edge designs.
