Professional photographers would be happy to know that today Pentax have officially unveiled their new 40-megapixel Pentax 645D medium-format DSLR. A high-end camera coming with an interchangeable-lens system, Pentax 645 Digital promises to deliver super high-resolution quality photographs thanks to its high-performance 44mm x 33mm sensor and a 77-segment multi-pattern metering system.


The new Pentax 645D medium-compact DSLR comes with a virtually indestructible chassis made of a highly-durable diecast aluminum, features a 3-inch TFT LCD screen with 921,000 dots, has a 11-point AF sensor and a fresh dust removal system. On top of that there’s a pair of SD / SDHC card slots, an USB 2.0 Hi-Speed port, HDMI output to connect directly to your HDTV or HD monitor, NTSC/PAL Video output and DC input.



Priced at ¥850,000 or some $9,390 at today’s exchange rate, you could expect the new Pentax 645D to bring HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode, dynamic range expansion to compensate for over- and under-exposed sections in the frame, and an extra-wide gradation range. While for an extra ¥100,000 ($1,005) will get you a new set of 55mm F2.8 lens.
