As more sordid revelations emerged about the golfer Tiger Wood's multiple affairs, the gossip columns are reporting that his long-term mistress Rachel Uchitel was extremely distressed to discover how many women he had unprotected sex with and is planning on visiting a GUM clinic.
The Woods scandal broke a couple of weeks ago with reports that, after his wife Elin discovered about his infidelities, she attacked his car with a golf club and somehow he ended up crashing his car. Since then he has gone into hiding, but more and more women have been coming out of the woodwork, claiming they enjoyed one night stands and long-term affairs with him.
Friends have said Uchitel 'flipped' when she found out that Woods had engaged in unprotected sex with so many women. The sources added that she was especially concerned that she needed an STD test after reports emerged that the golfer failed to use condoms while having sex with two porn stars.
While one adult filmstar Holly Sampson said he ‘used condoms like a good boy’, at least the first time, cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubs told American gossip magazine US : "He didn’t use a condom. It wasn't discussed. He never used one".
Another waitress, Mindy Lawton, told her sister Lynn that he refused to use protection. The sister said, "I'm so worried she might get a disease...we suspected he was promiscuous."
Commentators across the internet and in the tabloids have expressed utter shock that Woods put himself , his wife and his many conquests at risk of catching an STD, though he was clearly engaging in very high-risk behaviour.
While anyone who is sexually active should go regularly for STD testing, unprotected sex and multiple partners dramatically increase the risk of catching an infection like chlamydia, gonorrhoea or AIDS. Even when protection is used, someone who has a lot of different partners should be especially contientious about STD testing.
It's no wonder Rachel Uchitel is beating a path to the GUM clinic - she's bound to meet quite a few of Wood's other waitresses/hostesses/whatevers there waiting for their own STD test, as they realise quite how badly the golfer exposed them to risk.
No surprise then that his sponsors are dropping him like hot coals - first the management consultancy Accenture, who said he wasn't 'the right representative' for their brand, then Gilette said he was no longer appearing in their adverts, then phone firm AT and T said they were 'evaluating the relationship'.
Doubtless that’s what his wife is doing at the moment. Still, maybe condom manufacturers Durex would be interested in a partnership – show him how to use one and with his rate of success their sales could skyrocket.
